JENNIFER L. ALPAUGH
STATEMENT
I studied art at UCLA, where I received my B.A. Degree. I work primarily with oil paint on canvas.
The subject matter for my work includes portraits, abstract flowers, and landscapes. I enjoy moving between the contrast of painting the large free-flowing forms of landscapes and flowers and the more exacting rigor of painting portraits. In the portraits, my goal is to evoke the mood and sense of the individual and to create a soft, flowing canvas of blended color in the flowers and landscapes.
My work has been shown at Pacifica’s Sanchez Art Center, Skyline College Gallery, College of San Mateo, the Pacifica Library, Pacifica Performances Concert Hall, and the Octagon Gallery in the City Hall of Daly City.
I received the Award of Excellence for painting at the Guild of Pacifica’s 2003 members show and the First Place Award at the 2005 Daly City Visual Arts Guild. I paint commissioned portraits and have created drawings and illustrations for books and literary publications.
